Summer Serve

Date

Dates Vary

This Summer, we’re taking a more hands-on approach to engaging our city missionally…with Summer Serve!

We’ve set up four service slots for individuals, families, and even community groups (you name it!) to sign up, go, and serve!

Partnering with two local ministries, CityServe and The Arkansas Foodbank, we will fulfill our calling to be the hands and feet of Jesus with ministries already doing great work for the least, the last, the lost, and the hungry. Both locations offer much-needed, but non-expert, labor that any of us can do.

FAQs:

  • What will we be doing?
CityServe empowers local Arkansas churches to support their communities by providing them with donated goods. These churches distribute the items to people in need. CityServe receives these goods, often returned products from major retailers like Amazon and Home Depot, at their warehouse. Our role in the warehouse is to receive and sort these pallets of goods, preparing them for delivery to the churches.

At The Arkansas Foodbank, volunteers sort and process donated food times in the warehouse to ensure only safe and suitable food is distributed. This involves inspecting, organizing, and packing food for delivery to partner agencies like food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters across the state.

  • What if I can’t make a slot…or it’s filled?
It’s no problem! We have a strong relationship with these ministries. They have dozens of available days. Simply contact their Point Person (they know you’re calling) and set up at a time that works for you and your crew.
  • How about my kids?
Due to the nature of warehouses:
    - Arkansas Foodbank minimum age is 8 years old
    - City Serve minimum age is 10 years old
  • What do I bring?
Bring a big water bottle, work gloves, and closed-toe shoes. All work will be done indoors, so sunscreen and bug spray shouldn’t be necessary. But it’s still hot!
